April 15 and 26

On these next two trips to Eyeball, I had a great deal of fun.  At the time they were working on another Amazon Kindle project.  This time it was my job to work on the background which would consist of a book shelf and books.  Being copyright laws, the books on the shelf had to be made up titles and authors.  So the first step was for me to come up with a bunch of made-up titles and authors, then search the database to make sure that none on them replicating anything else.  For this i decided to use my friends and things that they were notorious for doing, and made them the authors and title for the books.  Than it was my job to bring these books to life in after effects by adding them on layers and key frame than set up their movement tracks.  From there the other people at Eyeball took over and finished the project, and I went home and told my friends that I used them for a project.

April 8th

April 8th was almost worse than the past two weeks because they had nothing for me to do, so I got stuck doing errands for the company.  First thing i had to do was deliver a package to another production company that was working as a team with Eyeball at the time.  Than when I got back I had to file away all these videos, which took me a while because I had to put them back in order by reading the labels to the videos which had pretty bad hand writing.  After that i had to return a few videos to Blockbuster that Eyeball had borrowed to use footage for one of the projects they were working on.  Later after that I helped the secretary organize and put int envelopes peoples paycheck from the past six months.  I didn't mind that one though because I got to see what people make for the work they do.  All and all it wasn't as bad as capturing the terrible dance videos, but it wasn't as productive as all the other days.  I don't mind though because I owe them that day for all the help that they gave me, and it wasn't bad exploring the city.

March 25th and April 1st

The next two times I went to Eyeball probably were the two most boring days I had there.  Being that everyone was busy on other projects that started while I was at school for the majority of the week, I got stuck working on a project that the boss's mom needed their help on.  She was doing a documentary on a dance studio she ran a few decades ago.  My job was to watch all the video and label them all because they had no labels on them.  The videos were so boring being half of them were from the late 70's and 80's and if I was lucky the 90's.  Than after I labeled all the videos I had to capture only the footage that they would be able to use to Final Cut Pro.  It was an awful two days there but I can't complain because I walked out of their a capturing expert.

March 4th and 18th

On these two days they gave me the opportunity to work on an Amazon commercial.  They showed me the objective which was to use famous celebrities to sell their product.  The celebrities they were using are, Johnny Depp, Lady Gaga, and Eminem.  It was my job to locate video via youtube and other media website of these celebrities walking around outside of their jobs.  We were than gonna edit Amazon Kindles into their arms and add voice overs of them talking about the Kindle.  It was very hard to find basic footage of these stars because when taped they know they are in the public eye so they act as if they were doing their job.  I did find the footage though so that was great, and even though I didn't do anything with Final Cut Pro, After Effects, and Photoshop, I still had a productive two days because I was involved in the pre production.

(January 28th, February 4, 11, 18)

During these next four Fridays, they had me doing tutorials to better my knowledge of the programs they used.  The next friday I walked in there after my first day, they were finishing up on the Saturday Night Live documentary.  They told me there was nothing more I could do for the project because it was the end of the project and it had been assigned to other people already.  They decided to set me up at a desk and work on tutorials for the program After effects.  The first few tutorials i worked on, were to gain my basic knowledge of the After Effects main frame, for example the shortcuts and the basic functions of the program.  Than I moved onto creating titles and fonts before adding movements to the words.  After than I started working on special effects like changing the skin tone of a character, adding blood, and touching up a green screen.  It took be a good two weeks to finish the Adobe After Effects tutorial they had set up to do.
The next three Fridays had me concentrating on Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.  I was already a little bit aware of the Adobe Photoshop main frame because for one it's basic, and two I worked with it a little bit at school.  Adobe Illustrator on the other hand I never heard of but I was very happy that I got to understand it.  Adobe Photoshop I worked on improving the quality of photos and adding color to sketches to bring the picture to life.  In Adobe Illustrator I worked on building 3D images which was very cool.  The one tutorial I liked the most was building a 3D map of streets and buildings.  The map I made came out pretty good for a first timer.

January 21st-First Day

At the first day of my internship I was very nervous because I was about to be working with people who had a lot more experience in the film industry, and because I was the new guy and didn't know anyone.  When I first walked in there I was very shy, I sat down and waited for one of the producers to notice me.  After introducing me to all the co-workers, they filled me in on a "Saturday Night Live" documentary that they were working on.  So for the first part of my day I watched on as I got a good idea of what these guys were working on.
We than went out to lunch together, something that they don't do often but were doing that day because they were trying out a new Vietnamese restaurant.  Once again I was pretty shy about eating lunch with them all because I didn't know anyone.  But after eating lunch with them all, I got to know most of them and felt more comfortable after.  The food however was very different from what i was used to, it was a great experience trying it, but I don't know if i'll ever be eating that food again.
When we got back to Eyeball, they decided to let me do some work.  They split up some of the work between the few of us and gave me a little section of the project to work on.  The part of the project that my co-workers and I were working on, was improving the quality of the photos and applying picture moves to them.  I didn't really know how to use After Effect or Adobe Photoshop at the time so one of they guys sitting next to me gave me the run down, and I wrote notes so I wouldn't forget.  My objective was to bring the photos from the document into Photoshop, bring up the quality of the photo than send it into After Effects where I replaced the same less quality photo in the timeline.  Than I would put the photos on layers and key frames, and follow the steps of applying the photo moves.
